On Friday, April 21st, 2016 we had the pleasure on hosting our 2nd Annual Kids Can Cook! It was a great success with 45 local kids becoming a chef for a day. The Nogales Mercado event was made possible by support from Southwest Foodservice and TA-DE Produce Distributing. Participants ranged in age from 5 to 18, and cooked Pasta Primavera with bell peppers and Chinese eggplant. It was a fun, interactive way for them to learn how easy and tasty it can be to help their families cook healthy, fresh meals. The hands-on event allowed kids to follow a recipe, cook, and the best part, eat their own dish. Families learned how the Nogales Mercado can be a source of fresh, local produce that supports small growers and entrepreneurs right here in our own community.
